Mokpo Myeongga | Craving Refreshing Mulhoe Near Yongsan?

(Continuing from my visit to a keyboard typing shop.)

After leaving the shop, I started getting hungry. Maybe because it was the day after the rain, the extra humidity made it feel even hotter than usual. I found myself craving something cold, and mulhoe suddenly came to mind. While looking for a nearby spot that served it, I ended up visiting 목포명가 (seafood restaurant) near Sinyongsan Station.

🌊 Stepping into a Bright and Comfortable Space

As soon as I walked in, I noticed how tidy the tables were. The whole place felt bright and pleasant, making it a nice option for families or couples as well.

I couldn’t wait to find out how the mulhoe would taste, so we each ordered a bowl.

🥢 With Neatly Served Side Dishes

After ordering, the staff brought out the complimentary side dishes first. Dried seaweed, seaweed strands, white kimchi, and salted oyster were all served neatly. They paired well as a light starter before digging into the mulhoe.

The fresh raw fish mulhoe finally arrived. The generous portion really stood out, even at first glance. It came loaded with fresh sashimi, sea squirt, thinly sliced pear, and plenty of vegetables.

After mixing everything into the sweet, tangy, and icy broth, each bite felt incredibly refreshing and helped cool me down.

The sesame added a slightly nutty note, so it wasn’t purely tangy.

If you don’t want the distinct flavor of sea squirt cutting through the tangy broth, it might be worth asking for it to be left out in advance. 😅

🍜 Finishing Off With Chewy Noodles

Once I’d eaten a good amount of the mulhoe, I added a serving of somyeon noodles. Mixing the chewy noodles into the chilled broth made for a satisfying finish.
