Made in Chicago Pizza | Cheese-Packed Chicago Deep Dish
Today I stopped by 메이드인시카고피자 덕수궁점 (Chicago-style pizza restaurant near Deoksugung), right across from City Hall Station. I got to dig into a hearty deep-dish pizza while looking out over the Deoksugung Stonewall Walk. The generous amount of cheese stood out right away, and the clear view outside made the meal enjoyable for both the eyes and the palate.
After finishing a walk around Deoksugung, I started feeling hungry and naturally made my way over for pizza.
🍕 Stepping into a Hidden Entrance With Neon Charm
The restaurant was on the second floor of a building with a well-known waffle shop on the ground level. If I’d simply been passing by, I probably would’ve missed it. I headed around to the back and went upstairs, where the entrance finally came into view.
The bright red PIZZA neon sign above my head and the pizza mukbang-style posters on the wall immediately caught my attention. One even seemed to feature President Trump. It felt like I was stepping into an old American backstreet pub.

There were quite a few international visitors inside as well.
Once I opened the red door, I found a bright interior that felt very different from the entrance. Plenty of diners were already enjoying their meals, and there were lots of foreign guests too.
The window seats were easily my favorite spot. Through the vintage red window frames, I could take in the grand rooflines of Deoksugung, the stonewall path, and the people passing by below.

The contrast between the Western-style pub interior and the traditional Korean palace scenery felt unique and surprisingly charming.

Every pizza came Chicago-style, and half-and-half options weren’t available, so we played it safe and ordered the Combination Chicago Pizza.

When the freshly baked pizza arrived, the thick crust immediately stood out. As soon as I lifted a slice, I could see just how much mozzarella cheese had been packed inside.

The sweet and tangy tomato sauce combined with the rich, abundant cheese and filled my mouth with classic deep-dish flavor. With so much cheese, it could’ve felt a little heavy, but pairing it with an ice-cold zero cola balanced everything out perfectly, so I enjoyed every bite until the end.
