Umi Running Sushi Near Sindang Station

A few weeks ago, as soon as I came out of the station, a sushi spot caught my eye, so I headed in. Then I ended up enjoying the meal more than I expected, so I wanted to share this late review of 우미회전초밥 (a running sushi restaurant), also known as Umi Running Sushi.

From the outside, Umi Running Sushi looked pretty ordinary. Once I stepped in, though, I was surprised by the wall covered with celebrity signatures. In the relaxed atmosphere, I got to pick out only the sushi I wanted and left feeling completely satisfied.

✍️ Stepping into a Modest Exterior With a Wall Full of Signatures

Simple but welcoming interior

From outside, it felt like a small and familiar neighborhood sushi restaurant.

But once I walked in, I was surprised to see an entire wall packed with signatures from celebrities and well-known figures.

It felt like one of those hidden gems frequently visited by local residents and office workers nearby, so I found myself looking forward to the meal before I even started eating.

🍣 Diving into a Hygienic Sushi Rail With Covered Plates

After sitting down, I took my time checking out the sushi plates making their way around the conveyor rail.

One thing I really liked was that every plate came covered with a transparent dome-shaped lid. Even in a shared dining space, it felt reassuring to enjoy sushi without worrying about dust or dryness. Picking a plate off the rail and lifting the clear lid turned out to be surprisingly satisfying.

🥢 Enjoying a Varied Lineup With Salmon, Aged Kimchi Flounder, and Chashu

The first thing I reached for was salmon sushi, one of my favorites. It looked rich and delicious just from its appearance.

Aged kimchi flounder sushi

Next was flounder sushi topped with crunchy aged kimchi. The chewy texture of the fish paired really well with the clean, refreshing flavor of the kimchi, while the sesame seeds added a pleasant nutty touch.

Tamago sushi and shrimp sushi

There were also sweet and fluffy tamago sushi, shrimp sushi, and even savory chashu sushi topped with bok choy. The selection was quite diverse.

That’s what makes running sushi so enjoyable—the fun of picking out each piece individually.

I actually tried many more varieties than the ones shown here, but I couldn’t photograph every single plate. It didn’t feel like I had eaten that much, but when I looked at the stack of empty plates beside me, I realized I had put away quite a lot… 😂

💬 Wrapping Up With a Comfortable Sushi Experience

It wasn’t an ultra-luxurious or flashy sushi restaurant, but I had a pleasant meal thanks to the neighborhood charm and the clean, hygienic sushi rail.
