CHAGEE Yeoksam Branch | Jang Wonyoung Milk Tea Review

With the weather getting hotter these days, didn’t a cold and sweet drink sound especially tempting after a meal?

Today, I wanted to share my visit to 차지(CHAGEE), the global tea brand that’s been making waves lately and is often called the “Jang Wonyoung milk tea.”

I usually drank coffee more often than tea, but I became curious about this brand after seeing Jang Wonyoung drink it. I’d heard it was so good that she even ended a live broadcast because of it. 😂

I heard the wait was huge when the first store opened near Gangnam Station, and since a new branch had just opened in Yeoksam, I stopped by right after lunch to check it out.

🏯 Stepping into an Elegant Exterior With CHAGEE

As I walked past the store, a sophisticated atmosphere immediately stood out through the large glass windows. The English sign described it as a modern tea house, and it felt like the brand was aiming for a more premium image rather than a typical milk tea shop. That left quite an impression on me.

Once I stepped inside, I noticed the shop was connected directly to the building lobby, and it looked like the interior had been designed to match the building’s overall style.

There was additional seating further inside.

When I walked all the way to the back, I found some cute teapots on display. The whole space still had that freshly opened feel.

📝 Picking Detailed Options With a Custom Order Form

An order form that allowed customers to choose sweetness and ice levels.

The menu offered quite a variety of tea bases.

Since we’d mostly ordered standard milk tea at cafés before, we weren’t used to choosing from so many different milk tea options. 😂

We ordered a regular Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea and a regular BO.YA Jasmine Milk Tea.

I liked that we could customize both sweetness and ice levels. It felt like a thoughtful ordering system that let customers tailor drinks to their own preferences.

💙 Diving into Eye-Catching Packaging Design

Everything carried the CHAGEE design, including the straw wrapper, shopping bag, and even the receipt.

The deep blue background featured constellation and botanical patterns, giving it a distinctive look. Even the shopping bag and blue paper straw matched the overall design theme, making the drinks feel fun to carry around. The back of the receipt was even designed as well.

⏰ Dealing With a Longer-Than-Expected Wait

I’d already heard plenty of stories about long waits since the brand first arrived in the Gangnam area. At the Yeoksam location, there wasn’t a visible line of people waiting, so I assumed the drinks would come out quickly. That turned out to be a mistake.

It took much longer than expected for the drinks to come out, and I almost ended up returning late to the office after lunch. From ordering to receiving the drinks, it took roughly 25 minutes. I also noticed other customers looking surprised as their drinks still hadn’t come out even as lunch break was ending.

A large illuminated C logo and a QR code sign for the mobile app stood near the entrance.

If you worked nearby, I’d strongly recommend using the CHAGEE app to place an order in advance and simply pick it up when you arrived.

🧉 Finally Getting the Drinks and Trying Them Out

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy the tea at a relaxed pace.

Since we didn’t know about the app and ordered in person, we ended up receiving our drinks after lunch break had already passed and had to rush back to the office. 😭

As for the drinks themselves:

Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea – This was the one I drank. It had the nutty, roasted character of oolong tea combined with the familiar taste of milk tea. It wasn’t drastically different from other oolong milk teas I’d tried before, but it carried a faint floral sweetness that came and went subtly.

BO.YA Jasmine Milk Tea – I was told the jasmine aroma stood out immediately. The bright floral fragrance came through right from the first sip and made a great impression. It felt almost like a milk tea infused with flowers, so I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys jasmine tea.

💡 Who Should Come Here?

1. Anyone curious about the trendy new drink that’s become famous as the Jang Wonyoung milk tea.

2. Anyone who prefers clean and subtle flavors over overly artificial sweetness.

3. Anyone near Yeoksam Station looking to enjoy tea or milk tea instead of coffee while carrying around stylish packaging.

💬 Wrapping Up With Final Thoughts

The long wait made me break a slight sweat, but the unique branding and clean tea flavors made the visit feel worthwhile. Next time, I’d like to try the jasmine option myself or explore some of the other fruit-flavored milk teas I missed. If you’re passing through the area, I’d say it’s worth checking out.
