Cafe Gaeppul | Coffee With Seoul N Tower Views
On days when the sky looked beautifully blue like it has lately, staying at home felt like a waste, and I just wanted to get out and walk somewhere.
Today’s spot was 개뿔 (Cafe Gaeppul), a scenic café you could reach by starting at Dongdaemun Station and following the old fortress wall trail. It was a great place to enjoy coffee or a light dessert while taking in wide-open views of Seoul N Tower (Namsan Tower), and the spacious rooftop made it a perfect stop after a walk.
🌼 Stepping Along the Relaxing Fortress Wall Trail

Starting Point: Heunginjimun Gate Naksan Fortress Wall Course
After lunch, we headed out from the Dongdaemun Heunginjimun Gate area a little after 1 PM and slowly made our way uphill along the fortress wall. Mats had been laid over the dirt path, so the walk felt surprisingly comfortable.

Coreopsis Flowers Around Naksan
As we walked along the trail, bright yellow coreopsis flowers lined the slopes beside the fortress wall, making the scenery enjoyable the entire way. Just strolling beneath the clear sky beside the historic stone walls felt incredibly refreshing.
☕ Walking Into Cafe Gaeppul From the Trail

The Cafe Gaeppul sign came into view as soon as we climbed up.

Entrance to Cafe Gaeppul
As we made our way up the slope, the café entrance appeared right beside the walking trail. The round sign simply said “Gaeppul,” and somehow it drew us in out of pure curiosity.
🥐 Diving Into Stunning Views Through Wide Windows

Exterior view of the café featuring large windows
As soon as we stepped inside, an amazing view opened up before us. The cityscape spreading out below looked fantastic.
The interior seemed to have been created by renovating a traditional hanok-style building.

Inside Cafe Gaeppul, there was a staircase leading down to the lower level.

Downstairs, we found the counter along with a display of desserts.
We headed down one floor and placed our order there.

The desserts on display looked delicious too.

Cafe Gaeppul menu
After walking uphill, we’d worked up a light sweat, so we ordered an iced Americano and an iced vanilla bean latte.
While looking through the menu, we noticed alcoholic drinks as well, including Naksan Lager and Ihwa Highball. Coming around sunset to enjoy a beer while watching the sky turn red and the city lights come on afterward seemed like it would create a wonderful atmosphere.
🗼 Enjoying Outdoor Views With Coffee at Cafe Gaeppul

Terrace view outside Cafe Gaeppul
When we stepped outside, the open view immediately made us feel as if all our stress had drifted away.

View of Seoul Tower
Seoul N Tower stood out clearly beyond the buildings. The scenery was beautiful from indoors too, but seeing it from the terrace felt completely different.
The Americano tasted clean and nutty, perfectly washing away our thirst after the walk. The vanilla bean latte blended sweetness and creamy milk nicely, giving us a welcome boost of energy.

After chatting, finishing our drinks, and cooling down completely, we headed back down the hill and wrapped up our walk.

💬 Wrapping Up With Scenic Views

Iced Americano and latte on the terrace with Seoul N Tower clearly visible in the background
Walking along the quiet fortress wall trail, sipping cold coffee, and looking out over the scenery made everyday stress seem to melt away. Rather than being an ultra-trendy hotspot filled with flashy décor, it felt like a comfortable place where the view alone made the visit worthwhile. I’d recommend stopping by on a nice day for a casual walk.
