KE795 KE796 Fukuoka Round-Trip Flight Review
These days, Fukuoka is easily one of the most popular overseas destinations for Korean travelers!
I headed to Fukuoka on a business trip this time. Even though it was technically work, I was already in full travel mode, thinking about all the great food spots around Tenjin! ✈️
Since the flight to Fukuoka is so short, I honestly didn’t expect much from the flight itself. But after flying Korean Air (Korean flag carrier airline) KE795 and KE796, there were quite a few things that really impressed me, so I had to share this review—including a few useful tips I didn’t want to keep to myself.
The flight view always got me excited.
✈️ Flying With Wing Seats on KE795
What kind of seat do you usually prefer on a plane? Window or aisle?
I usually cared less about window versus aisle and more about whether I was sitting toward the front or back. Whenever possible, I tried to grab a seat near the wings. Since I tend to get motion sickness, seats around the wings always felt a bit more stable and less shaky both visually and physically.
I could also spot Korean Air’s newly painted logo on the wingtip.
Unfortunately, on my flight to Fukuoka aboard KE795, Typhoon Jangmi caused quite a bit of turbulence. Because of safety concerns, the drink service was completely suspended. The captain even made an apology announcement, and I couldn’t help thinking how hard the crew were working.
But it wasn’t over yet!
After about 20 to 30 minutes, I was surprised when the in-flight meal suddenly showed up.
The sandwich came neatly packed inside a meal box.
The set included a Paris Baguette Chicken Club Sandwich, Yegam Original potato snacks, and Jeju Pure Water. It wasn’t a hot meal, but the bread was moist, the vegetables tasted fresh, and it was perfect for taking the edge off my hunger.

Even though I didn’t get the drink service, I had brought a strawberry smoothie from Jamba Juice at Incheon Airport’s duty-free area, so I paired it with the meal. 😄
📱 Getting More From the B737-8 Seat Setup
The most interesting thing about this Korean Air flight was actually the seat. Instead of the usual seatback screen, I noticed something different.
A holder for mounting a smartphone on the seatback?
It turned out that my aircraft was a B737-8. Rather than having built-in monitors, it featured a smartphone holder and a USB port right beside it.
Entertainment delivered straight to your phone.
After connecting to the onboard Wi-Fi and accessing Korean Air’s website through the provided link, I could watch movies and entertainment programs directly on my phone. The Wi-Fi itself was paid, but access to this entertainment webpage was free.
According to Korean Air, only two aircraft types in their fleet currently offer this smartphone-holder setup. It felt pretty lucky that I happened to be flying on one of them. 🍀
There were plenty of popular recent movies available, including Avatar, If We Were, and Dune.
Here’s a small tip. If you simply place your phone in the holder, the viewing angle points slightly upward toward the ceiling. If you bring a SmartTok or phone grip that can prop up the back of the device, you can adjust it to eye level and make it even more comfortable.
🍺 Heading Home With Asahi Beer on KE796
After wrapping up my Fukuoka business trip—which also doubled as a food tour—I boarded the return flight. This time, the meal was a crab and carrot râpé sandwich.

The flight was much smoother this time, so when the crew asked about drinks during meal service, I asked whether beer was available. To my surprise, they handed me a full can of Asahi beer. 🍺
Enjoying a can of beer on a flight that lasted just over an hour felt incredibly relaxing. Taking a bite of the sandwich and following it with an ice-cold beer almost washed away all the fatigue that had built up during my 3-night, 4-day business trip.
Life moved fast on this flight.
The flight time was so short that the cabin crew looked incredibly busy. As soon as we took off, they handed out meals, then quickly came back asking whether they could collect the trash, and before long we were preparing to land. It felt like watching a timed challenge unfold, but thanks to their efficiency, I enjoyed a satisfying meal and a pleasant flight.

3. Travelers who’d like to wrap up their trip with a casual beer before landing. The Asahi beer on the return flight was a great touch. 🍻
💬 Wrapping Up With KE795 KE796
Because Fukuoka is so close to Korea, many travelers often choose low-cost carriers like Jeju Air or Jin Air. After flying Korean Air, though, I had to give it credit for both the quality of the in-flight meals and the seat convenience. The unexpected highlight was definitely that can of beer on the return flight.
Korean Air operates several daily flights between Incheon and Fukuoka, but I’d happily recommend KE795 and KE796, especially for the B737-8 smartphone holder setup that made watching content much more comfortable.
