After finishing a great meal, I headed out for a light walk around Dongdaemun to help digest everything. While strolling around, I spotted a cafe with an especially beautiful exterior.

The retro wood-toned storefront immediately caught my eye, and I got curious about what it looked like inside, so I stopped by 창신561 (a retro-style neighborhood cafe), Changsin 561.

✨ Stepping into a Cozy Vintage Space With a Sparkling Chandelier

As soon as I opened the door and walked in, the dazzling crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling grabbed my attention first.

Inside, there were green leather sofas and wood-toned tables that carried on the same mood as the exterior. The charming little decorations around the counter were also incredibly cute.

When I went over to place an order, I found an additional hidden space farther inside. The whole place felt clean while still showing off plenty of vintage character.

☕ Cooling Off With an Iced Americano and Strawberry Banana Smoothie

We ordered an Americano and a strawberry banana smoothie.

First up was the iced Americano. It had a nutty, clean flavor without noticeable acidity, and it instantly felt refreshing after the first sip.

It paired perfectly with sweet drinks or desserts and worked great as a palate cleanser between bites.

My girlfriend ordered the strawberry banana smoothie for a quick sugar boost. After trying a sip, I tasted the rich sweetness of banana along with the bright freshness of strawberry.

The serving size was generous too, so we got to enjoy it slowly while chatting away.

If you walk past Heunginjimun from Dongdaemun Station and head slightly into the Changsin-dong alleyways near the fortress trail, you’ll find it easily.

The stylish wood-toned exterior and bright sign reading “CHANGSIN 561” lit up the alleyway, so finding the cafe wasn’t difficult even after dark.
