When I couldn’t be bothered choosing a menu and wanted something filling, meat dishes usually felt like the safest bet for me. Think pork cutlets, spicy stir-fried pork, and similar options.
Still, I’d been looking for a good meat dish that wasn’t the pork cutlet I’d been eating so often lately.
So this time, I visited 오류골한상(Oryugol Hansang), a restaurant serving hambak steak dishes. It was a newly opened spot, and since I often ate around Seolleung Station, it felt like I’d stumbled upon a hidden hambak steak gem tucked away in an alley.

Was there really a restaurant here? There was!
The restaurant sat among the villa buildings near Seolleung, so it almost felt like I was walking through a quiet residential alley. Coming from Seolleung Station, I’d passed several restaurants before the scenery suddenly turned residential, making me wonder if there was actually a place to eat nearby. As it turned out, the restaurant was hidden behind the neighboring building. 😅
It looked like a place that operated as both a restaurant and a pub in the same building, so I headed in.

As soon as I walked inside, it honestly felt pretty interesting. Since it functioned as both a restaurant and a pub, the atmosphere felt like a blend of the two.
There were also seats inside for solo diners.
Once I sat down, I realized the space was much larger than I’d expected. There was even an area where you could drop in alone during a busy lunch hour and eat comfortably without worrying about anyone around you.
Naver Maps listed the restaurant as closing at 7 PM, and I’d arrived around 6:30 PM, so I thought I’d need to eat quickly. When I asked the owner, though, I found out the place stayed open as a pocha-style pub until 11 PM. They said I could still order the meal menu, so it seemed like a great place for dinner or even a casual beer later in the evening.

The dish came with two large pieces of Hambak Katsu, a fried egg, cabbage, and rice all served in one pan. I was curious about the flavor, so I cut into it right away.
Since it was a hambak steak, it sliced through very easily.
The meat was much more tender than I’d expected and had a great texture. It definitely delivered a softer bite than pork cutlets. Before even dipping it into the sauce, the meat itself was already perfectly seasoned and delicious. I was so focused on eating it that I nearly forgot about the fried egg on the plate. Since two pieces were served, the portion felt very satisfying as well.

The Cheese Toowoomba Pasta Set came with a slice of hambak steak alongside the pasta, making it a hearty combination.
When I dipped the broccoli and noodles into the rich sauce, the savory and deep flavor filled my mouth and unexpectedly made me crave a cold beer. Personally, I thought it would’ve been absolutely perfect as a drinking snack if it had just a tiny bit more spice. It worked wonderfully as a filling lunch, but it also seemed like an excellent choice alongside a draft beer after work.
In front of delicious meat, even a full stomach couldn’t stop me, and before I knew it, I’d cleaned every plate.
I was completely stuffed, but somehow I felt a little less guilty because I’d eaten meat.
