The Ultimate Medieval Concept Pub

The Ultimate Medieval Concept Pub Near Jonggak Station

This week, my team and I went out for dinner at a special spot near Jonggak Station. We didn’t want the usual meat-grilling joint or a typical pub, so we looked around and stumbled upon Sudowon (Secret Abbey). Right from the entrance, it felt exactly like stepping into a real medieval abbey cellar, and I instantly knew they fully committed to the concept.

🕯️ Stepping into a Medieval European Cellar

Walking down the arched brick stairs at the entrance, a dimly lit space with soft candlelight greeted us. It really felt like we time-traveled straight to medieval Europe.

We booked ahead, so the staff showed us to a private room tucked away inside. The main hall outside was pretty bustling, but our room was perfect for chatting away without any interruptions. Being a massive Harry Potter fan, the antique, dark vibe totally gave me Hogwarts Great Hall energy. I thought it’d be a fantastic spot for a date, too.

🍝 Diving into Creamy Gnocchi and Wood-Fired Pizza

We ordered the BBQ platter, Margherita pizza, gnocchi, and croquettes. The ‘Salvation Cream Gnocchi’ and potato croquettes came out first. As soon as I took a spoonful of the gnocchi, the rich cream sauce melted in my mouth, and I couldn’t stop eating it. The croquettes were super fluffy and packed with real potato flavor. Both dishes perfectly matched the abbey theme, and since we were starving, they disappeared in a flash.

Next up was the ‘Silence Margherita Pizza’. It had a wonderful basil aroma and tasted really clean and light.

🍖 Chilling with Cold Draft Beer and a Massive BBQ Platter

The main star for our team that night was the ‘Monk’s Sacrament BBQ Platter’. This huge tray came loaded with low-temperature aged pork ribs, roast chicken, french fries, a side salad, pickles, and olives.

Tearing into the thick ribs, the smoky grilled chicken, and the crispy fries while sipping on freezing cold Stella draft beer instantly washed away all our work stress.

We also participated in a review event where we scanned a QR code to spin a guaranteed-win roulette. We ended up winning a slice of cheesecake, which wrapped up our meal perfectly. A sweet dessert’s always the right move!

💡 Who Should Come Here?

  1. Anyone looking for a unique, out-of-the-box concept pub near Jonggak Station.
  2. People who want a comfortable space to talk over dinner, rather than a loud and noisy joint.
  3. Those craving great food paired perfectly with cold draft beer.

🏰 Wrapping Up Our Escape

The unique interior was a total feast for the eyes, the food tasted great, and even the dish names stayed true to the theme. Our whole team had an absolute blast. You know how some places blast music or cram tables so close you can’t hear the person across from you? This place totally wasn’t like that—it was incredibly comfortable for conversations. If you’re hunting for a concept bar or pub around the Jonggak area, definitely check it out!
